Lukas &#8211

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Lukas is a native Spaniel. He is an extremely friendly, positive, and people-oriented companion. He is very interested in exploring and there is no excess affection and cuddles in his world. With his charming nature, he wins everyone over. Lukas walks very well on a leash and responds to his name. When he hears it during long walks, he comes running immediately. Both inside and outside, he is very attentive and, most importantly, stays close to his people when outside. Lukas is a lively dog and also enjoys rolling in the dirt and has fun with water. He avoids any stress, whether from people or fellow animals. Cats are not his favorite four-legged friends. Lukas needs loving and patient people who attend to his needs and give him lots of attention and affection.

About Lukas &#8211

What life with Lukas &#8211 looks like

Lukas &#8211 is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzbund Basel Regional.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lukas &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lukas &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzbund Basel Regional handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lukas &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lukas &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzbund Basel Regional will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lukas &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lukas &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzbund Basel Regional early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lukas &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
