Luke

Border Collie · Male · Puppy · 7 months

Luke is a sweet heart and is growing in confidence everyday! Luke is looking for a family that is willing to put the time and training in to him to help him become the amazing boy we know he is! He He is very foody, which will help a lot with his training. Luke is going to be a high energy boy, so will need owners committed to his training and exercise needs. We cannot wait to see him thrive in his new home! Meet Luke. He is an approximately 6 month old Collie X Shepherd. Luke has not had the best start to life and is learning new things every day, so the world is quite a spooky place. Luke can live with another dog in the home, pending a successful meet at the centre and may benefit from them to learn how the world works. Luke can live with sensible secondary school aged children that will understand he needs a little help learning new things and not be too full on straight away for him. Luke does need work on all of his basic training, so his new family would need to be willing to work on this with him, though, being a mix of two very high energy, intelligent breeds, will be very quick to learn. He will need an active home that are able to give him what he needs mentally and physically, keeping his busy brain stimulated. He will be a wonderful companion!

About Luke

What life with Luke looks like

Luke is a puppy/kitten border collie dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luke, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luke?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luke on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luke if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luke already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luke isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luke and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
