Lumo

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 3 months

Lumo and his siblings did not have an easy start in life. Their mother Irma was found completely emaciated and heavily pregnant - her legs and snout were bound together. Shortly after their rescue, she gave birth to twelve puppies. Unfortunately, two of them died after a short time. Irma was so weakened by her severe malnutrition that she could not produce enough milk for her babies. Therefore, Dorel took on the difficult task of raising the ten surviving puppies by hand. With much care and countless feedings, the little ones made it and are now gradually discovering the world. Lumo is a rather cautious representative of his siblings. If something is still unfamiliar to him, he prefers to hold back and observe. He is not the one who needs to be in the middle of the action right away. But Lumo is a dear little guy - and above all, one who needs time to gain trust. If you give him this time, you will quickly notice that there is a wonderful puppy behind his initial shyness. Lumo gradually thaws, becomes more curious and shows more of his playful and cheerful side. He just needs to understand that nothing will happen to him and that people mean well. Optically, Lumo is a very special eye-catcher with his gray fur and pretty beige accents. His dark snout gives him a striking expression, while the small white spot on his nose makes his face unmistakable. In Lumo, as in some of his siblings, we cannot rule out that Herdenschutzhund genes are also in him due to the appearance of his mother Irma. Of course, this cannot be said for sure and especially in puppyhood it is not at all clear whether and how strong corresponding properties will appear later. Herdenschutzhunde can be very loyal and closely attached to their people. At the same time, they are often quiet, independent and attentive dogs that like to judge situations first. Depending on the degree of expression, watchfulness, territorial behavior or a certain reserve towards strangers may be part of it. For Lumo, this means above all: His future people should enjoy getting to know him in peace and giving him loving, clear and patient guidance to give him security. Whether such characteristics will actually develop in him remains to be seen. Lumo is looking for people who do not expect him to be brave from day one. People who give him time to build trust and develop into a cheerful, self-confident young dog. Because sometimes it is precisely the little shy ones whose trust later becomes something very special. After a positive preliminary check and for a deposit, Lumo can travel to his new home chipped, vaccinated, dewormed and flea-free with an EU pet passport. Thank you to Gabi C.! You gave Lumo his name and thus an identity. Status: 03.10.2026

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Vielen Dank an Gabi C.! Stand: 03.10.2026

About Lumo

What life with Lumo looks like

Lumo is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lumo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lumo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lumo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lumo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lumo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lumo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lumo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
