Adopt Luna

Jack Russell Terrier · Female · Adult · 6 years

Luna, an exclusive little girl with a fragile heart. She has that adorable little face that could make one think of a teddy bear. And yet, Luna is not an easy dog. She has already known several homes, comebacks, misunderstandings, and sometimes overly rough gestures. Has Luna bitten? Yes, several times? Always in contexts where fear, surprise, or a misread signal took over. Luna is an extremely sensitive, wary dog who needs stability, respect for her limits, and a calm environment. No children, no other animals: she needs to be the only little sun in her home. With the people she knows and trusts, Luna can also be gentle, affectionate, ready for a walk or a shared nap on the couch (she even used to sleep with her favorite human). She is clean, non-fugitive, knows how to be alone, and doesn’t make a fuss in the car. In short, a discreet roommate... as long as she’s not rushed. But let’s be honest: Luna can bite. She’s not mean, she’s just afraid. She needs an adopter who understands canine language, who reads between the growls and sideways glances, who doesn’t seek to “dominate” but to establish a real relationship, solid and predictable. What Luna is waiting for is not a master. It’s a partner. Someone who will take the time to tame her, who will know how to say “stop” calmly, set a boundary without violence, and most importantly: respect who she is, with her vulnerabilities, her limits... and her bruised heart. She’s not for everyone. But for the right person, she will be a true companion, faithful and touching in her somewhat clumsy way of loving.

About Luna

What life with Luna looks like

Luna is a adult jack russell terrier dog waiting at SRPA Liege in Srpa Liege.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SRPA Liege handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SRPA Liege will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SRPA Liege early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
