Adopt Lux

Domestic Shorthair · Male · 2 years

November 4, 2025. District XVIII. A kitten of the mother cat found in Bókai garden. Meet Lux, this beautiful, enchanting yellow-eyed black cat, who unfortunately again needs a new home, not through her own fault. Lux was already adopted once, but unexpected difficulties arose: she didn't get along with the family's previous cat, so for the sake of peace, she had to return to us. Therefore, we recommend Lux especially for a single favorite, a home where she can be the only, adored ruler of the house. Although she is currently a bit upset due to returning, she needs time to feel safe again, but fundamentally, she is an infinitely friendly and grateful cat. Her health condition is excellent, her FIV-FeLV-FIP tests are negative. If you are looking for a loyal companion who will only save all her love for you, Lux is waiting very much for her second, now final chance! Important! If I have caught your attention, please only apply as an adopter if you are willing to commit to me for life and are a responsible pet owner, where the cat is not just a garden decoration, but a family member. Are you willing to take me with you, as another member of your family, when moving (whether abroad, from a garden to an apartment, or to another rental property) and ensure that even if something happens to you, I will always have a place and above all, safety to live.

About Lux

What life with Lux looks like

Lux is a medium-sized adult domestic shorthair dog waiting at Rex Kutyaotthon in Budapest.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Must be only pet - does not get along with other cats

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lux, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lux?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Rex Kutyaotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lux on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lux if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Rex Kutyaotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lux already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lux isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Rex Kutyaotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lux and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
