Maxi

Domestic Shorthair · Male · Senior · 15 years

Maxi is a curious, chatty, and affectionate cat looking for a peaceful home without children or with older children. Maxi is an indoor cat and needs a home that is suited to his needs. Hello! My name is Maxi. Unfortunately, my owner passed away, so now I am looking for a new home. I think it’s fun to look out the window at all the people passing by, so a bed near a window would be great. Of course, playtime is also fun, and when I play, I like to chase things that make noise. I can also have a few zoomies. When we play, I am very careful, so I never bite or scratch. Sometimes I even curl up to take a nibble from your hand, as I’m afraid I might bite you. I don’t like plants and am good at using my litter box, so I won’t soil your furniture. I am also so good at staying away from tables and kitchen stools. The few times I try, I retreat when you discover me, as I know I can’t jump up. Once I’ve become properly settled with you, I am very happy to be petted. I like to lie in your arm and will almost always want belly rubs. I let out a purr when I’m overstimulated. This animal is not suitable for homes with children. This animal is for adult-only homes.

About Maxi

What life with Maxi looks like

Maxi is a medium-sized senior domestic shorthair cat waiting at Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo in Oslo.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

Note from the shelter: Needs outdoor access, scratches furniture when bored, dislikes car rides

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maxi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maxi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maxi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maxi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maxi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maxi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maxi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
