Lynn

Border Collie · Female · Adult · 5 years

Sweet and intelligent girl Lynn is a 5 and a half year old Border Collie who loves going out and exploring the big, wide world. She is great fun to be around, you’ll often see her throwing her toys in the air and catching them. She enjoys a little fuss and a cuddle in short bursts and she loves to stand with you and get her neck and ears scratched before heading off to explore and sniff. This beautiful girl is on the hunt for her new home. Lynn is looking for a home with loving and active adopters who can take her on sniffy adventures and give her all the love and attention she deserves. She is a typical busy Collie, so adopters with breed experience would be ideal, or a home who understands she needs plenty of physical and mental stimulation. Lynn can live with secondary school aged children, and needs to be the only pet in the home. Sadly, Lynn hasn’t had the best start in her life, so needs a family who have quieter areas to walk her, and who will help socialise her with other dogs in a positive manner once settled in the home, and continue to work with her on her lead walking as currently she can be very strong. She is a clever girl, so eager to learn if there are minimal distractions, she currently does a lovely “sit” and “paw” and would benefit from training in short, sweet sessions with the help of a tasty treat. Lynn’s adopters will need to work closely with our behaviour team to continue her muzzle training, which she would need to wear when out and about. Lynn will need to meet her adopters multiple times prior to going home so please bear this in mind when applying. Please note that should you be shortlisted, our rehoming process usually takes up to 7 days, and potential adopters would be required to come up to the centre to meet her within 48hrs of being shortlisted.

About Lynn

What life with Lynn looks like

Lynn is a large adult border collie dog waiting at Dogs Trust Canterbury in Chestfield.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lynn, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lynn?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Canterbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lynn on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lynn if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Canterbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lynn already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lynn isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Canterbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lynn and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
