Maddie

Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Adult · 5 years

Meet Maddie Say hello to Maddie, a beautiful 5-year-old British Shorthair cross who is an absolute gentle soul. Maddie has a very thick, luxurious coat, so her new family will need to be prepared for regular grooming to keep her looking and feeling her best. She is a wonderfully affectionate girl who loves a fuss and is very vocal when she has something to say! If you stop stroking her before she’s ready, she’ll gently tap you to let you know she’d like you to carry on. Maddie would love to be the only pet in the home, where she can enjoy having all the attention to herself. She is a rather large girl and is currently on a light diet to help her maintain a healthier weight. She could live with sensible children of secondary school age. Maddie is looking for: A loving home where she can be the only pet A family who will keep up with her regular grooming Someone who appreciates a vocal, affectionate girl Sensible secondary school-aged children Continued support with her light dietMaddie really is a lovely, gentle girl who just wants someone to love and plenty of fuss in return. Could you be the forever home she’s been waiting for? Please complete the appliaction form below

About Maddie

What life with Maddie looks like

Maddie is a large adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA Northamptonshire Branch in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maddie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maddie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Northamptonshire Branch handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maddie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maddie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Northamptonshire Branch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maddie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maddie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Northamptonshire Branch early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maddie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
