Maggy

Belgian Malinois · Female · Adult · 3 years

Maggy - looking for an experienced and loving home Maggy is a beautiful Malinois mix dog currently living in a Spanish shelter. For a sensitive and hardworking dog like her, this is naturally not an environment where her needs can truly be met. In her dealings with people, Maggy shows herself to be very friendly and approachable. She meets new people cautiously and shyly at first, which is understandable given her current situation. Once she feels secure, however, she quickly shows her loving and affectionate side. Maggy also seems to get along well with other dogs. She has already lived peacefully with a male, which speaks to her social compatibility. How Maggy behaves in other combinations will likely be better assessed by the shelter caregivers in the coming weeks. Since Maggy has not been in the shelter for long, the caregivers are currently getting to know her better. Many dogs initially show only a small part of their character in the first days and weeks, which is why we will certainly update her profile once there are further details about her behavior and needs. It is also important for Maggy to note the breed characteristics: As a Malinois, she most likely has typical traits of this breed - intelligence, sensitivity, willingness to learn and a high need for physical and mental stimulation. Even though she is currently described as calm and friendly, one should not underestimate that a dog of this breed needs clear leadership, structure and meaningful occupation. Therefore, we are ideally looking for a home with experienced dog people, preferably with experience with working or utility dog breeds. She needs people who can give her security, read her body language and are willing to stimulate her both physically and mentally. A dog means responsibility over many years - for a breed like the Malinois this is especially true. Therefore, the decision to adopt Maggy should be carefully considered and never made on impulse. Anyone ready to open up to her will get a friendly, sensitive and probably very eager-to-learn dog by their side, who has finally earned the chance for a stable and loving home. About Maggy

What life with Maggy looks like

Maggy is a adult belgian malinois dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maggy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maggy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maggy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maggy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maggy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maggy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maggy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
