Adopt MAI

European Shorthair · Female

MAI was born at the end of last year and is currently still in Spain near Valencia. Two friends in Spain received information that there is a colony of cats in a greenhouse on a field where there is hardly any protection from pouring rain or strong sunlight. There were many very thin, unneutered cats there, which were still very young and hungry. Unfortunately, many cats did not survive, but little MAI was discovered amidst this overwhelming situation by our friends and could be rescued along with other cats. We suspect that MAI is the sister of our female cat April, as they have many similarities, such as the same age, size, location, and also the unique pattern of gray fur. April has already found a lovely home. Now MAI is waiting for her safe and loving future. She is a very special kitten with a unique color pattern, one of a kind, a real gem. From the beginning, she has been very affectionate with our partners and loves to be petted. She enjoys every moment of affection. The young female cat likes playing just as much as she likes wet food. In the colony, she lived with many other cats and is not a loner, so we also wish for her to have nice feline company in her future HappyHome. Of course, MAI can also bring one of her playmates from Spain with her. The beautiful cat is already spayed, dewormed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Upon entry, she will also be tested for FIP and FeLV. Who will give this beautiful kitten a home full of affection and cuddles?

About MAI

What life with MAI looks like

MAI is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting MAI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about MAI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw MAI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt MAI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is MAI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if MAI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know MAI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
