Adopt Maikls

Male · Adult · 5 years

Sharpeja puppy Michael was given to the shelter along with a French bulldog named Miku. In the past, the dogs belonged to children, but when living conditions changed, as is often the case for Latvians, all the unnecessary things were sent to the countryside with the mothers and grandmothers. But mothers and grandmothers do not always manage to deal with unwanted animals and properly care for and watch over them. This also happened with Miku and Michael - both friendly, they had been running around the village for a long time, annoying neighbors and the municipality, until someone realized - the dogs need to find proper owners, not wait for them to wander off. Thus, Maikls and Miku ended up in our house. Maikls is a very kind, people-oriented dog. Suitable for an active family that will take the dog for walks, train it and keep it occupied. Not suitable for life in a private house, where Michael would just be let out into the yard, because, bored, he might try to escape. Although the dog has Sharpeja blood, Michael does not have the typical food allergy of the breed. A great dog for an active family. It is recommended to have it as the only pet.

About Maikls

What life with Maikls looks like

Maikls is a adult dog waiting at Labās Mājas in Riga.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇱🇻Adopting from Latvia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maikls, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maikls?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Labās Mājas handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maikls on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maikls if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Labās Mājas will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maikls already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maikls isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Labās Mājas early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maikls and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
