Majki

Male · Adult · 8 years

Majki is VERY IN NEED of a home! The foundation Przyjaciele Palucha will financially support the future family of Majki. Not long ago, he only had the beginning of spondylosis, unfortunately it is progressing rapidly and now Majki suffers from spondylosis of the entire spine. Although he still has a lot of strength, he is getting worse at walking, and sometimes refuses to go for walks because of the pain. The years spent in the cold and on concrete in the kennel are not helping, but rather contributing to the faster progression of the disease. Majki very much needs to find a home where he can rest and receive proper care. He used to always be smiling and ready for walks. When someone familiar approached his kennel, his tail was wagging like crazy. Majki loved walks. Today, such a Majki is becoming a rare sight. He is not as energetic and fast anymore, though he is still strong and it is clear that he still loves to walk, sniff, wade through water, and be with others. There will definitely not be a dull moment with him, he is a cheerful, friendly, and smart dog. He is a great companion, eager to learn, and loves human contact. He is open to gentle petting, though he also has his limits, so he will require the caregiver to understand dog signals. But he will surely repay kindness and sincere conversations with his beautiful smile and happily wagging ears. Majki has never had a real home. Taken in as a puppy from a fire department unit, he spent his whole life in a kennel, which he left under surrender to our care. Only at the animal shelter did he learn what walks are. He learned to walk nicely on a leash, discovered various dog tricks, and found out how nice it can be to live together with a person. The conditions at the animal shelter are very stressful and stimulating for the dogs, and right now, from a bit of a greater distance, he can pass them calmly. However, he needs a home where he will be an only dog. We also do not recommend him for a home with children. Due to his more demanding character, Majki will need a greater number of introductory walks than specified in the adoption procedure, as well as a home visit.

Majki BARDZO PILNIE potrzebuje domu! Dziś taki Majki to coraz rzadszy widok. Nie polecamy go też do domu z dziećmi. About Majki

What life with Majki looks like

Majki is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Spondylosis of entire spine causing mobility issues and pain

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Majki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Majki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Majki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Majki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Majki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Majki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Majki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
