Adopt Major

Mixed Breed · Male · 11 years

Major is a 11-year-old neutered male. He was surrendered to the animal shelter due to aggression towards household members. He is interested in other dogs and would like to play, although his intentions are not entirely clear. He does not pay attention to cats. Major is a very active dog - he requires a lot of exhausting walks. He can easily become excited and then may turn excitement into aggression, therefore he needs someone who has experience in handling dogs. When Major is taken out of the kennel, he is very happy and spins around in circles with joy. He is more suitable for a house with a garden than an apartment. He should not live with children. He adapts more quickly to contact with women, although he can also build relationships with men. Major loves running, so he would happily run with his new owner. He responds to some commands. Major to ok. 11-letni wykastrowany samiec. Został oddany do Schroniska z powodu agresji do domowników. About Major

What life with Major looks like

Major is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Wrocław in Wrocław.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: History of aggression towards family members, requires experienced handler

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Major, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Major?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Wrocław handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Major on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Major if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Wrocław will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Major already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Major isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Wrocław early rather than rehoming privately; they know Major and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
