Majorie

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Others chased them away and finally called the dog catchers! Their caretakers found out and so the female dog was brought to the animal shelter before something bad happened to her. That Majorie survived as a street dog for so long is nothing short of a miracle.... Majorie is also wonderful! She seeks the company of people, even with strangers she is immediately joyful and open. She clearly enjoys having her ears rubbed, being placed on someone's lap and being cuddled. She also wants to experience things, where is something happening, where can one watch something curiously, Majorie is there. She is active, fit and cheerful. With other animals she is friendly and gets along well, and is well integrated into the group. She likes to play with other dogs and also enjoys lying in the sun. However, the lively puppies can sometimes annoy her. In a single encounter with our experienced cats in the house, she shows herself to be friendly. She is young and still needs training. Since she is smart and wants to please, with your patience and experience she will surely learn the basics of dog behavior and family life with joy. Majorie has only known the streets so far, now the animal shelter...yet she is people-oriented! We wish her a loving, active family that shows her how beautiful life can be within the circle of her humans. Since we do not know how Majorie reacts to small children, they should be somewhat older in her new home. Majorie travels vaccinated, microchipped, spayed/neutered, vet-checked and with an EU passport. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

DE·Show original

About Majorie

What life with Majorie looks like

Majorie is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Helping Hands for Romanian Strays e.V. in Recklinghausen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Majorie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Majorie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helping Hands for Romanian Strays e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Majorie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Majorie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helping Hands for Romanian Strays e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Majorie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Majorie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helping Hands for Romanian Strays e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Majorie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
