Mala

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

General Information: Microchipped and vaccinated, an Amstaff with short black fur and a white tip to its snout. At the moment, it is not spayed, and will be done before adoption placement. Character: Mala is a small female dog who is very active, docile, cooperative, and sociable with people. Unfortunately, at the moment, she only goes for walks twice a day for a total of about 40 minutes a day and is alone for really countless hours… At home, if no one is present, she tends to be destructive. She barks little. Currently, she cohabits with a ferret with which she plays a lot, which arrived at the shelter before her. She lives with two children with whom she gets along well. She has no issues with handling and generally likes the people she tries to approach in a somewhat intrusive manner. On a leash, she pulls, but this is likely due to the fact that she gets too little movement compared to what she would need. She shows some inexperience. As written, it is based on an evaluation conducted here and now and the information provided by the owners. Ideal Adoption: For Mala, we are looking for people with experience with dogs who are well-versed in the characteristics of the breed, who are available to have a professional by their side. Good for those who won't leave her at home alone too much. Active people who want to involve the dog in their lives. Okay with well-behaved kids who are considerate of animals. Possible introduction with another male dog; a character compatibility test will be required to be conducted in the shelter in the presence of an operator. Apartment or villa with a garden, living with the family and ensuring the daily walks necessary for her psychological and physical well-being.

About Mala

What life with Mala looks like

Mala is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at ENPA Monza e Brianza in Monza.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mala, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mala?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ENPA Monza e Brianza handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mala on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mala if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ENPA Monza e Brianza will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mala already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mala isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ENPA Monza e Brianza early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mala and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
