Adopt Malani

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Malani – ready to give his heart away Malani is exactly how puppies should be: lively, playful, curious, inquisitive, open, and carefree. He was placed with his brothers at our animal shelter in Hungary and then got to accumulate many positive experiences with us. He got to know different people, including children. Along with his siblings, he also got to learn about different adult dogs and is well socialized. On his current foster home in the Canton of Zürich, Malani lives with other dogs. This works out great. He can continue to accumulate more experiences here, already runs quite nicely on the leash, knows how to drive a car, and discovers new things every day! For Malani, we are looking for people who are aware that time, patience, and friendly consistency are needed to accompany a young dog in its development. People who have this time and who are happy to show him more of the world and grow together with him into a real team. Attending a good dog training class would also be certainly worthwhile. It would be nice for Malani if he could move into a home with an enclosed garden. We do not know the parents of Malani, but we think he should grow to be medium-sized. Malani’s right front leg is unfortunately not normally strong. This is likely a birth defect that cannot be corrected. This means that Malani has always known it; he runs and plays and runs around, showing a slight limp. We assume that Malani will be somewhat impaired in his gait and therefore not necessarily suitable for overly strenuous sports activities. In everyday life, however, he is not at all restricted; he is a completely normal, lively, and very life-loving young dog! Malani is on a foster home in the Canton of Zürich. As he was still too young for castration at the time of surrender, he will be rehomed with a castration requirement. This animal was abandoned.

About Malani

What life with Malani looks like

Malani is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Your Heart 4 Rescued Dogs in Yourheart4dogs.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Malani, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Malani?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Your Heart 4 Rescued Dogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Malani on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Malani if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Your Heart 4 Rescued Dogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Malani already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Malani isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Your Heart 4 Rescued Dogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Malani and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
