Maleika

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

The gorgeous Malaika, born 10/2024 and about 50 cm tall, was able to leave the Turceni euthanasia station behind in October 2026. The friendly and loving female dog stood out there not only because of her pleading eyes, but also because of her great longing for human closeness. When she sensed that she would not be left behind, she seemed visibly relieved. Now she can finally learn that people can also mean care, security and love.Malaika is a very people-oriented dog who clearly enjoys every form of attention and affection. She is happy about kind words, stroking hands and being close to her caregivers. Even now she shows how much she values contact with people and how grateful she is for every loving gesture. Now she will first be lovingly cared for and prepared for her departure. From 06.11. Malaika may travel abroad, and she is therefore urgently looking for a loving foster home or, of course, her forever home. What Malaika has experienced in her life so far, unfortunately, we do not know. Whether she has already lived in a house, we therefore can neither confirm nor rule out. Many everyday things, such as household noises, fixed routines or life as a family dog, may still be new to her. With some patience, understanding and loving guidance, however, she will surely learn step by step everything that belongs to a happy dog's life.Malaika will not master being left alone from the very first day either. After her arrival, everything will at first be new to her, and she will need time to settle in calmly and build trust with her people. Being alone should therefore be practiced only after an appropriate adjustment period and in small steps. In general, one should not expect too much from a dog that has just left its previous life behind. Moving into a loving family, meeting new people, new smells and a completely new environment is already a huge change. Everything else should be worked on carefully, with plenty of patience, understanding and loving consistency. This way Malaika can arrive at her own pace and become a team with her people. For Malaika we wish for people who have the time she needs and who want to show her how beautiful a safe home can be. In return, you gain a loving, affectionate and grateful companion at your side who wants nothing more than to finally belong.Maleika is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and, after a positive preliminary check, will be placed with a protection contract.Departure from 13.11.2026.General note about our dogs: Our dogs in Romania are visited regularly so that we can continually reassess their behavior and development. These personal impressions help us greatly in conveying as accurate a picture as possible of each individual dog. Nevertheless, we would like to point out that a dog may show itself differently in a new environment – with new people, new routines and new impressions. This is completely normal and part of every process of change. Many dogs even open up faster at home and show sides that were not visible at the shelter. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations, but they are not a guarantee for every behavior in a new environment. They are meant to provide guidance and show how the dog presents itself at the shelter – and what potential it has within. We are convinced: with patience, understanding and a loving environment, every dog can find its way and develop positively.

About Maleika

What life with Maleika looks like

Maleika is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maleika, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maleika?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maleika on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maleika if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Maleika already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maleika isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maleika and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
