adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Malia has found her home! Her story: Sonnenscheinchen Malia is waiting at her foster home for her new family. Malia is a happy-go-lucky dog, compatible with other dogs, people-oriented, and very cuddly. Malia's first weeks on this earth were anything but beautiful. She and her sister were on the grounds of a car repair shop – their mother was nowhere to be seen. The men working there did not see that the little mice hid under a car, and when the car was being moved, it happened, Malia was hit. Unfortunately, she broke her leg in the incident, but this does not detract from her energy and joy in life. She wore a bandage for several weeks to protect her little leg. Now, however, all bones and wounds have healed, and Malia is a puppy in every sense of the word. Malia is incredibly open, loving, and people-oriented. She is overjoyed with any attention and petting. She wishes for a home where she can run wild, inspect every blade of grass, and simply explore the world. After an exciting day, she is just as eager for cuddles and treats on the couch, surrounded by her dearest ones. Malia is currently 4 months old and is expected to be medium-sized. Her new family should also be aware that Malia still has a lot to learn and puberty is still ahead. Here, she needs people who approach with much love and patience, and may need to attend some positively working dog training classes with her and forgive her one or two mishaps. During puberty, she will surely test boundaries and perhaps even forget some things she has learned. But once this phase is overcome, Malia will definitely be a great lifelong partner. Malia is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and brings an EU pet passport with her. She can be visited at her foster home. Who will give her a loving forever home? Many thanks to Linda! You named Malia. Status: 23.05.

Vielen Dank an Linda! Du hast Malia Ihren Namen geschenkt. Stand: 23.05.2024

About Malia

What life with Malia looks like

Malia is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Malia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Malia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Malia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Malia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Malia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Malia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Malia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
