Malwinka

Female · Puppy · 10 months

Malwinka is a young dog, barely a year old, with large black eyes that seem to take up half her face. At the moment, her eyes reveal one big question: "What's going on here?" We don't know her history, but we do know that she's very wary of humans. When she sees her caregiver, she can curl up and press herself to the ground, as if hoping to become invisible. She's not aggressive - she's just very scared and would rather disappear. At this stage, it's hard to say what she's really like. She goes on walks on her hands and is still learning to use a leash, although she's learning quickly. She's slowly getting used to the world around her, which is clearly new to her. Malwinka is still a puppy. Instead of learning about the world with her family, she's learning in a shelter. Although we don't know much about her yet, we believe that with time, the scared little ball of fur will reveal her true character. Malwinka is available for adoption, but she needs a very calm home and a caregiver who won't expect quick results. Someone who is attentive to her signals, patient, and willing to show her the basics of being a dog - walks, grass, leashes, new places, everyday sounds, and most importantly, a person she can trust. Malwinka is still learning to be a dog. That's probably why she needs someone who will let her do it at her own pace.

PL·Show original

About Malwinka

What life with Malwinka looks like

Malwinka is a small puppy/kitten dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Malwinka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Malwinka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Malwinka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Malwinka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Malwinka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Malwinka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Malwinka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
