Adopt Manci

Domestic Shorthair · Female · Senior · 11 years

2026.02.09. The owner has passed away. Meet Manci (tuxedo) and Minci (black and white), these two wonderful 11.5-year-old senior ladies, who without their own fault are now without a home because of their owner's death. Unfortunately, the adopters were not able to take them in, so we are now looking for a peaceful harbor for them where they can spend their remaining years with dignity. Both are infinitely kind and friendly, and Minci is the more outgoing of the two, a true social being. Since they have spent their entire lives together, they would be the happiest if they could move to their new family together, but we are not opposed to separate adoption either. Their health condition is excellent for their age, their FIV-FeLV-FIP tests are negative. We are looking for a loving, calm owner who appreciates the wisdom and gratitude of older cats. Important! If you are interested in me, please only apply as an adopter if you are willing to commit for life and are a responsible pet owner, whose cat is not a garden ornament but a family member. Will you take me with you when you move (whether abroad, from a garden to an apartment, or to another rental property) as another member of your family, and ensure that if anything happens to you, I will always have somewhere to live and especially be safe.

About Manci

What life with Manci looks like

Manci is a medium-sized senior domestic shorthair dog waiting at Rex Kutyaotthon in Budapest.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Senior cats requiring peaceful home, prefer to be adopted together

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Manci, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Manci?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Rex Kutyaotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Manci on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Manci if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Rex Kutyaotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Manci already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Manci isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Rex Kutyaotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Manci and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
