Mar

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Ragdoll(-Mix?) female born approximately February 2022 Behavior towards dogs: unknown Compatible with children: yes Compatible with cats: yes FCV-positive Emaciated, cold, with constant salivation and fur in miserable condition - this is how Mar came to the Refugio. The veterinarian confirmed the fear of Animaleas: Calcivirus. She had several ulcers in her mouth and her gums were inflamed. All her teeth had to be removed. Mar has recovered well, but her immune system remains weakened. Therefore, she is susceptible to colds and other diseases that do not pose a major burden for cats with intact immune systems. A shelter is not a place for a cat like Mar. She urgently needs a quiet, stable home with warm places to cuddle and people who give her a lot of love and keep an eye on her health status. Mar gets along well with other cats. Therefore, she could live well with other FCV-positive cats. Since the risk of infection is very high, she should not be socialized with healthy cats. She is such a sweet, gentle cat! She just wants to be loved or curl up in a cozy place. Are you the person who wants to offer Mar a beautiful forever home? Do you understand that cats often do not tolerate changes well and that Mar may be shy at first? Are you willing to invest time and patience? Wonderful! Check out our homepage right away and fill out the self-assessment. We will contact you then. And one more general request to all cat owners: Please have your cats spayed! Street cats usually come from the uncontrolled mating of unspayed outdoor cats. Nobody wants to take care of the kittens, and they rarely survive longer than half a year on the street. Cars, diseases, parasites, and cruel people are deadly for these poor souls. Help prevent cat suffering by having your cats spayed! Thank you!

Rasse: Ragdoll(-Mix?) Danke!

About Mar

What life with Mar looks like

Mar is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mar, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mar?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mar on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mar if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mar already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mar isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mar and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
