Adopt Marcelito

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 11 months

Marcelito has found his family! He can go straight to his new family after the next transport! Spanish Water Dog born around March 2025, approximately 55cm tall Compatible with: male dogs, female dogs and cats Children have not yet been tested Marcelito is a young, white Spanish Water Dog who also comes from a seizure and had to live with an illegal breeder before. Due to his previous life, he has barely known anything, which means many everyday things are still foreign to him. Currently, Marcelito shows some caution and reserve towards people. He needs time to gain trust, but with calmness, patience, and loving companionship, he will learn to open up and feel secure. Inside of him is a sensitive, delicate dog who simply hasn't yet experienced how beautiful a protected home can be. With other dogs, Marcelito gets along well; they provide him with orientation and help him navigate everyday life. Cats are also not an issue for him. At the moment, he lives in a Spanish animal shelter where he slowly begins to explore his surroundings. We wish for Marcelito a quiet, understanding home with people who give him the time he needs and let him arrive without pressure. An independent only dog would be a great support for him, though it is not a must. Who will give this gentle young male dog the chance for a new life and show him how beautiful trust and security can be? Marcelito is naturally microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, registered, and has been checked by a vet. Additionally, he has been tested for Mediterranean diseases and brings an EU vaccination passport to his new home. We've put together all the pictures we have of Marcelito into a slideshow above on the page. Just take your time and browse through the images, or click on them to view the next picture. Contact:

Kontakt: Julia Streitl 01 77 – 21 16 44 7

About Marcelito

What life with Marcelito looks like

Marcelito is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. in Essingen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marcelito, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marcelito?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marcelito on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marcelito if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marcelito already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marcelito isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marcelito and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
