MARI

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 3 months

Estimated birth date: June 2026 Short description: friendly, affectionate, curious, playful, rather balanced and calm, sociable In mid-July 2026, a passerby noticed a closed box next to the local fire station from which a whimpering sound was heard. When she opened the box, she found 7 small puppies inside. Fortunately, they were discovered in time and the animal shelter staff arrived shortly afterwards to bring the 7 little pups to the shelter. A big thank you to the lady for not ignoring the situation. The puppies were in no good condition and unfortunately one of the siblings did not survive. However, the others - 3 females and 3 males - are now safe. The whole litter is very pleasant, rather calm and relaxed. They are not puppies that constantly get excited or loudly demand attention. They often observe with interest or come friendly to people and show themselves curious and affectionate without being over-excited. Of course, they also like to play and discover their surroundings, but overall in a surprisingly relaxed way. However, they are still alone in an unfamiliar environment and without their siblings, they are still insecure. Nevertheless, they are still very young and their personality will develop further. They only know a very limited part of the world so far and still have to learn everything in their new home that should be self-evident for a family dog: house training, leash walking, car travel, being alone, getting to know new people and places, and later of course also mastering puberty. Mari's caregivers describe her as friendly, affectionate and calm. Mari also brings a special feature with her, her striking merle color, about which we would like to inform her future family transparently. The merle gene affects the pigmentation of the fur. This can be associated with an increased risk of allergies, skin diseases and/or restrictions in visual and auditory ability. Currently, nothing is noticeable, but we still want to point this out. We are looking for people who are not just in love with her unusual appearance, but are also willing to accompany a young dog step by step in life and also deal responsibly with possible health problems. Who wants to take on the adventure "puppy" - with everything that comes with it: playing, cuddling, romping around, but of course also educating and mentally and physically challenging, so that the sweet furball continues to develop into a great and pleasant companion. Please note that a puppy is a full-time job in the first few months and needs 24-hour care. This must be ensured in the event of a possible adoption. Mari moves to her new home with a chip, vaccinated, dewormed and with an EU pet passport. Have you fallen in love with the cute little dog girl? Then we look forward to your message! You can use the self-disclosure form for this.

About MARI

What life with MARI looks like

MARI is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Pfotenretter Ungarn in Pfotenretter.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting MARI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about MARI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenretter Ungarn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw MARI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt MARI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenretter Ungarn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is MARI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if MARI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenretter Ungarn early rather than rehoming privately; they know MARI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
