Maria

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Three-member cat family - mother Maarja along with daughters Marie and Mari - arrived at my place unexpectedly one evening. They were caught in Viimsi and intended to be sent to an animal shelter, but at the last minute it was decided otherwise and the kittens were brought to my place for temporary care. However, within a few days it became clear that the 3-4 month old kittens had health issues and required inpatient treatment. They suffered from a urinary tract infection and blood tests showed anemia. Fortunately, both recovered well and now everything is in the past and the once sickly kittens have grown into young healthy cats. In fact, the kittens are so similar that they are often confused. Maria was quite fidgety as a kitten, would hiss and have a quick temper. As they grew, their temperament became softer, but they are still not fully housebroken. Maria spends her time now in the large cat room and her favorite activity is running on the cat wheel. She does this so often and so energetically that it's fun to watch and she has definitely maintained her slim figure. One peculiarity remains, Maria for instance loves to talk. She looks you in the eye deeply and then tells her impressions, but you have to come and see and experience it yourself. Mari can be met if you write your wish to the email address .

Tekkis huvi? About Maria

What life with Maria looks like

Maria is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Gabrieli Loomade Elu MTÜ in Estonia.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇪🇪Adopting from Estonia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maria, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maria?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Gabrieli Loomade Elu MTÜ handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maria on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maria if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Gabrieli Loomade Elu MTÜ will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maria already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maria isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Gabrieli Loomade Elu MTÜ early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maria and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ET). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
