MARKER

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

Marker - Senior - Handicap - Male, neutered, born approximately 2014, shoulder height approximately 43 cm, weight approximately 14 kg, at Belchatow Animal Shelter since 09.09.2026. Another older male - Marker certainly did not have a nice home, he was abandoned - he is almost blind, maybe he can only see a little bit, his teeth are worn down, maybe a chain dog. We are impressed and at the same time moved - a nearly blind dog comes to us, he does not know the surroundings, he does not know us, everywhere noise, what must be going on in this animal? And yet this great dog comes to us, walks well on a leash, is attentive. Marker immediately makes contact with us on his own, sniffs my hand. Then he even crawls onto my arm, gives gentle kisses. We can easily touch him, of course with announcement and address, so he does not get scared. Physical contact is no problem, he likes to be stroked and enjoys the attention, he is not pushy about it. Marker is a very friendly, very dear, older gentleman, he is gentle, accessible and lovable. We wish him to be able to leave the loud, crowded animal shelter soon, this is not a place for a nearly blind, older dog, he needs a quiet home, no hustle and bustle, a home where he will certainly find his way quickly, a warm spot, caresses, and Marker would be happy. He can walk well on a leash. Marker sits with 2 males together, he has no problems with them, but his caregiver says he seems lost, unhappy in this kennel. (10/2026 B/KW)

(10/2026 B/KW )

About MARKER

What life with MARKER looks like

MARKER is a puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Hundehilfe Polen in Dierkshausen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting MARKER, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about MARKER?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundehilfe Polen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw MARKER on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt MARKER if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundehilfe Polen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is MARKER already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if MARKER isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundehilfe Polen early rather than rehoming privately; they know MARKER and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
