Marlon

Belgian Malinois · Male · Young · 1 year

Malinois Marlon – Youngster Seeks His Perfect Match Marlon recently moved to Germany and found a home there. Unfortunately, it has now become clear that living together with the dogs already present isn't working out in the long term. As a result, Marlon must leave his current home once again and is now looking anew for people who truly match him and his needs. He’s a young dog who probably hasn’t had enough opportunities yet to learn proper social behavior with other dogs. In his current multi-dog household, situations keep arising that overwhelm him. That’s why we’re looking for a home for him without other dogs—or with confident dogs who can handle such situations. His people describe Marlon as very affectionate, intelligent, and eager to learn. Truly a Malinois through and through: he wants to please his humans, work alongside them, and learns incredibly quickly. He also loves toys and responds wonderfully to food-based motivation—both indoors and outdoors. Even being left alone is going better than expected. Marlon can now spend short periods of time alone without any problems; he lies down calmly and doesn’t cause any trouble. At night, he sleeps through the whole night and settles down nicely. He considers his crate a safe retreat. Outside, there are still construction sites that need further work. Passersby and bicycles aren’t a problem, but when cars drive by—and especially when he encounters other dogs—Marlon can get very excited. Here, he’ll need continued training and confident support and guidance from his people. For Marlon, we’d like a home where he can settle in peace and quiet! People who enjoy working with an intelligent, active dog and providing him with clear guidance will have great joy with Marlon. Marlon is a Malinois—and definitely not a beginner’s dog. These dogs are highly intelligent, sensitive, and eager to work. They need meaningful activities, plenty of exercise, moments of calm, reliable routines, and people who lead them fairly and securely. Marlon brings all this to the table: he’s eager to learn, responsive, and has a truly sweet nature. All he needs now are people who understand him and provide him with the right environment. We sincerely hope that despite this setback, Marlon will soon find his people—people who see him for who he really is: a young dog with great potential who simply still needs to learn how to find his place in this world. About Marlon

What life with Marlon looks like

Marlon is a young adult belgian malinois dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marlon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marlon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marlon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marlon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marlon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marlon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marlon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
