adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Maro is a charming young male dog with a lot of charisma, joy, and a great need for closeness. Together with his sister Salsa, he was found in Romania at the age of about six months. The two were apparently abandoned and were staying at a beach resort – at first glance, a paradise, but their safety was deceptive. As long as the resort was in operation, they were cared for by vacation guests and were not left alone. As the main season approached its end, however, this support would have disappeared – along with protection and food. To give the siblings a secure future, they were taken in on time. This background story brings a significant advantage for Maro: he likely never had to lead the hard life of a real street dog. He already knows life in a household, is familiar with everyday situations, and shows openness, curiosity, and readiness to learn. Leash walking, car rides, and household routines are not foreign to him and are further reinforced in his foster home. Maro also knows cats and shows no problems with them. Maro loves people very much and actively seeks their proximity. He is a curious explorer who would most like to explore every blade of grass and every adventure with his two-legged companions. He enjoys cuddles and shared activities, and his friendly, playful nature is contagious. Currently, Maro is in the middle of puberty – an exciting, sometimes challenging phase. At about 20 kg, he is no longer a little puppy but a young wild thing with plenty of energy and ideas in his head. Foreign dogs are already sometimes barked at, and his obedience still needs to be worked on. However, Maro brings the best prerequisites for this: he is eager to learn, motivated, and looks forward to shared training sessions – visits to a positively working dog training class would be exactly right for him. In his head, there are occasionally colorful dough balls, and the dog ABC needs to be further reinforced in peace. People with a sense of humor, patience, and loving consistency are sought, who are willing to accompany him through this developmental phase. Those who enjoy movement, training, and shared mental stimulation will find in Maro a smart, active, and loyal companion. Maro travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated to his new home. His EU pet passport comes of course with him. Stand: 24.01.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Maro

What life with Maro looks like

Maro is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
