Maronica

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Description Our animal welfare workers report: During their daily trip to feed the street dogs at certain collection points, our animal rescuer Paula found two puppies by the roadside in the village of Jiu; a third puppy was already run over on the street. They were about 4 months old and had been harshly abandoned. Paula took the two small male dogs to her intake station, but had to take Maronica (the Brown one) to the veterinary clinic right away because he was very ill. There, parvovirus (a highly contagious viral disease) was diagnosed, and he had to stay in the clinic for some time until he stabilized. His brother died as a result of a reaction to the second vaccination; Maronica was the only survivor of the little dog family. Since then, he has lived in peace with other dogs in Paula’s intake station in a social group and also shows openness and friendliness towards cats. Maronica is people-oriented and age-appropriately playful, but does not participate in the wild play of his fellow animals. He is a quiet dog who loves the company of people, especially cuddles. For him, we wish for a quiet spot in a loving home, which best suits his mentality. Outside the intake station, Maronica knows nothing and must learn life both inside and outside a house. He wants to move into a home with people who give him space and time to settle in, learn new things, and go through life patiently and quietly with him. Who opens their heart to the dear, quiet male dog, giving him proximity and security as well as a framework in which he can develop into a wonderful companion? Please note:

About Maronica

What life with Maronica looks like

Maronica is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maronica, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maronica?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maronica on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maronica if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maronica already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maronica isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maronica and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
