Marshmallow Fluff

Akita · Male · Young · 1 year

Marshmallow Fluff is looking for an active home with adopters who are committed to continuing his training and helping him learn good manners. He could live with secondary school-aged children due to his size, strength on lead and tendency to jump up when excited. He would need to be the only pet at home so he can lap up all the attention. Marshmallow Fluff will need a secure garden with 6ft fencing where he can run, play and enjoy enrichment activities. He has previously been left for 1–4 hours and may be able to build this up gradually in his new home. His adopters should also be prepared to support him with refreshing his housetraining as he settles into a home environment. Marshmallow Fluff is a handsome young Akita who is full of character. He is a curious and affectionate boy who loves exploring with his nose and enjoys spending time with people he knows and trusts. Once he has built a bond, he becomes a very cuddly companion who loves attention and fuss from his favourite humans. He is a clever dog who enjoys learning and would thrive with plenty of mental stimulation alongside his daily exercise. Marshmallow Fluff already knows some basic cues such as sit and wait, but would benefit from continued training around loose-lead walking, focus work and polite greetings. With patience and positive reinforcement, he has all the makings of a loyal and rewarding companion.

About Marshmallow Fluff

What life with Marshmallow Fluff looks like

Marshmallow Fluff is a young adult akita dog waiting at Dogs Trust Salisbury in Newton Tony.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marshmallow Fluff, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marshmallow Fluff?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Salisbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marshmallow Fluff on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marshmallow Fluff if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Salisbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marshmallow Fluff already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marshmallow Fluff isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Salisbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marshmallow Fluff and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
