Adopt Martina

Female · Young · 2 years

Martina and her siblings were found as tiny babies. They were all very weak, and unfortunately, not all of them made it. Martina remained very delicate for a long time, which is why she was allowed to live in the house with our partner Ester. By now, Martina has developed into a cheerful, playful kitten who seems to be making up for lost kittenhood. On May 9, 2025, the dear Martina arrived in Germany. She is now waiting in Iggensbach (between Passau and Deggendorf) for nice people who would like to adopt her. Her new home should have at least one more cat for playing and cuddling together. Unfortunately, Martina is once again looking for a suitable dream home. In July 2025, she found a beautiful home. After some time, she was introduced to a vet due to bad breath. Due to periodontitis, almost all of her teeth had to be removed. Despite this, the little one is managing well and has no restrictions when eating. However, a follow-up test for feline leukemia virus (FeLV) came back positive, so she can no longer stay with the family that has another cat. Martina is a particularly loving, human-oriented, and cuddly cat. She likes to play extensively and get plenty of exercise. Strings and ribbons are her favorite toys. Sometimes she can entertain herself for hours with small balls. With her people, Martina seeks close physical contact; she loves to lie on laps and enjoys having her belly and head petted. The sweet lucky cat also gets along very well with other cats and could share a home with another FeLV-positive cat. If you would like to take the lovely Martina into your family, we look forward to your message. She will only be placed in an apartment that is suitable for apartment living with a cat-safe netted balcony or secure terrace. About Martina

What life with Martina looks like

Martina is a young adult cat waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Martina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Martina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Martina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Martina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Martina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Martina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Martina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
