Adopt Mary

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Mary ID No.: 1050042 Breed: mixed breed Age: approx. 06/2013 Sex: female Shoulder height: approx. 47 cm Neutered/Spayed: Yes Location: Marbella (Spain) Inquiry form Mary – a loving senior with a young heart Mary (*06/13, approx. 47 cm) came to the animal shelter TripleA Marbella after her human had to go to the hospital—but unfortunately, she was never picked up again. So she was left behind at the age of 13. Despite her age, Mary is anything but a typical senior: she’s active, enjoys walks, still moves quite briskly, and loves outings—especially to the water. With her fluffy coat and a little weakness for good food, she’s simply a charming lady dog. At first, she was uncertain and somewhat grumpy, but once her boundaries are respected, she reveals herself to be friendly, calm, and sociable. Mary isn’t the type of female dog who likes to be cuddled on demand—she wants to decide for herself when to allow closeness. Once she’s built trust, she greatly enjoys affection and shows her loving side. She walks well on a leash, is polite with both people and dogs, and currently lives without issues alongside another dog. However, shelter life isn’t suitable for her—as a former house dog, she’ll quickly settle into a quiet home again. We’re looking for a peaceful, understanding home for Mary, without children, with people who can give her time and respect. Mary is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and holds an EU pet passport. For travel arrangements, she is prophylactically dewormed and treated for fleas. Vaccinations: Yes Mediterranean check: Yes Microchip: Yes Diseases: leishmaniasis including transport Contact person: Annika Beger Tel: Email:

About Mary

What life with Mary looks like

Mary is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mary, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mary?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mary on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mary if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mary already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mary isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mary and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
