Adopt Mathilde

Maltese · Female · Adult · 6 years

Origin: Linares (Andalusia) Location: Linares (Andalusia) Size / Weight: approx. 22 cm shoulder height at 3.7 kg Additional: spayed, microchipped with EU passport, vaccinated and tested for Mediterranean diseases Character: reserved, shy, compatible with other dogs New home: patience, time, no expectations, fenced garden, no small children, only dog Adoption fee: 490 euros including transport costs to Germany This poor little mouse is our Matilde, who was rescued in a desperate condition from a breeder with the help of a ticket from hell and has now arrived at our shelter. She was used as a breeding dog (which has nothing to do with responsible breeding, as the dogs are simply used to generate puppies). These dogs know nothing of a normal dog's life, but are kept as "goods" and receive only the necessary affection so they can be used for the bad business of dog breeding. Matilde should now leave all that behind and start on the way to a beautiful new life. We wish for Matilde a family that has no expectations of her, because we simply don't know what she can do in daily life and what she still needs to learn. Often it is very helpful for the dogs if there is already a confident dog in the new home who can show her everything at first. If you have few requirements, lots of time, patience and a big heart for Matilde, then contact us, because she could soon be fully vaccinated, microchipped, spayed and tested for Mediterranean diseases to travel to Germany. If picking her up in Northern Bavaria is not a problem for you, we look forward to your meaningful inquiry. About Mathilde

What life with Mathilde looks like

Mathilde is a large adult maltese dog waiting at Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) in Vilseck.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mathilde, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mathilde?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mathilde on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mathilde if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mathilde already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mathilde isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mathilde and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
