Matilda &#8211

Mixed Breed · Female

Matilda now lives in 55624 Rhaunen. All the best, Matilda. Heartfelt thanks, Frau H. Matilda is a cheerful and beautifully marked female dog who is waiting at the animal shelter Kimba for her first real home. She is just one and a half years old (as of 01/26) and delights with her chocolate-colored coat, which shines in the sunlight with her big, round eyes. Matilda brings the liveliness and curiosity typical of many Podenco mixes and is always up for any kind of adventure. Matilda was taken in with a whole group of dogs from the village's state-run menagerie because the animals were to be transferred to a pound with a killing station. All found refuge and love in the small shelter Kimba. Despite her difficult background, she has kept her zest for life. She loves spending time with people and other dogs, is very compatible, and shows herself to be exceptionally friendly and open in handling. Being with her is a gift because Matilda brings warmth and joy to every day. Playful and cuddly, Matilda combines energy with great attachment. She enjoys long walks, playing in the field, and is always there when someone invites her to play. At the same time, she loves the quiet moments – she most loves snuggling up to her people and enjoying cuddles. Children are not strangers to her: With her gentle nature, Matilda is a wonderful companion for families, but also for couples or individuals who want an active dog to enjoy. For Matilda, we are looking for a home with people who like to be outdoors and want to work with their dog. She is intelligent, eager to learn, and seeks challenges that will foster her. Whether jogging together, cycling, dog sports, or trick training – Matilda is enthusiastic about everything and wants to explore and conquer the world with her people. The small animal shelter Kimba has lovingly taken Matilda in and shown her the sunny side of life, but now it is time for the next step: her own home where she can arrive, unfold, and feel loved. Matilda is waiting with her friends in Spain for the message that she has won her ticket to great happiness, and she will surely not hesitate to step into the transport with her new passport and many funny stories in her luggage. If you feel drawn to Matilda and would like to meet her, we look forward to hearing from you. Matilda is already looking forward to the person with whom she can begin her new life!

Matilda lebt jetzt in 55624 Rhaunen. Alles Gute, Matilda.

About Matilda &#8211

What life with Matilda &#8211 looks like

Matilda &#8211 is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Matilda &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Matilda &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Matilda &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Matilda &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Matilda &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Matilda &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Matilda &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
