Matilda

Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Young · 1 year

Matilda entered our care alongside her two one week old kittens after being found by a member of the public. After several weeks in our care, Matilda's kittens are ready to be rehomed and Matilda is looking for a special home of her own. Matilda is a chatty, social butterfly, she loves nothing more than company from her familiar people and will happily come over to you for attention, she is always happy to see you! She enjoys fuss and attention and has a lovely, friendly nature, enjoying being involved in whatever you're doing, often following you around to see what's going on. Matilda would be the sort of cat that would quickly make herself at home, curling up beside you for a nap or asking for some well-earned attention! Matilda is looking for a quiet, calm and peaceful home where she can take her own time to settle in and build up her confidence with her new family. She would be best suited living with children over the age of 10 years. It is unknown how she would react to other pets in the home.

About Matilda

What life with Matilda looks like

Matilda is a young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at USPCA.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Matilda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Matilda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. USPCA handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Matilda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Matilda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — USPCA will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Matilda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Matilda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with USPCA early rather than rehoming privately; they know Matilda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
