Matin

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Gender: male, neutered Date of birth: November 2019 Height: below knee-high Compatible with dogs: no Children in the same household: possible from school age onward Looking for a home: on the outskirts of town or in the countryside; barrier-free living would be an advantage. The lively, 2019-born Terrier-mix male dog Matin is people-friendly and can also be placed with children from school age onward. Unfortunately, other dogs are not among his friends. Matin is familiar with a chest harness and walks nicely on a loose leash. On his left hind knee/thigh, the sweet male dog has an old trauma resulting in nerve damage, which causes him to limp slightly and requires him to take medication. However, this does not restrict his mobility in any way. As for house training, Matin still needs some practice in his new home. We’re looking for a home for this friendly Terrier on the outskirts of town or in the countryside; barrier-free living would be an added bonus.

About Matin

What life with Matin looks like

Matin is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutz Austria in Vienna.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included.

Frequently asked

Adopting Matin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Matin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Austria handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Matin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Matin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Austria will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Matin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Matin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Austria early rather than rehoming privately; they know Matin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
