Max 2

Mixed Breed · Male

This cheeky chap is handsome Max who has sadly had to celebrate his 4th birthday without his best friend and dad who very suddenly passed away over Christmas, leaving Max traumatised at the loss of his owner, he is very lucky that a lovely family member has temporarily taken over the care of Max and given him the birthday that his owner would have wanted him to have. Max did everything with his owner and would travel in his van or car with him while he worked as well as playing ball together and going on their long hikes and adventures which he loved. Max can bark at some dogs and totally ignore others, his carer isn’t sure why but this has improved while they are getting to know and understand each other, he did take Max to collect his birthday cake from the bakery and was happy to meet strangers and have extra delicious treats while there. He is a good guard dog and will let you know if someone is at the front door even if it’s a postie by barking. Max doesn’t destroy his toys, he just loves playing with them, he also loves snuggling up on the sofa with you and giving you kisses. He is vaccinated, still entire and a healthy boy, he’s fed Millie’s Wolf heart, he loves gravy bones, pigs and rabbits ears as treats with his daily dental stick. We believe his owner was able to leave him home alone but since they’ve been separated he has been very clingy and needy with his carer. He used to snooze on the sofa and have free run of downstairs. Max has been great with all the adults that he’s met but he hasn’t been around children recently so we aren’t sure how he reacts, however he’s been fine out on walks with children in the neighbourhood and with a calm little boy that he met this week. He knows several commands like sit, wait, stay and in a secure area he has a good recall and does what’s asked of him, but this hasn’t been tested around temptations like other dogs. If you feel you have the time and love to invest in Max while he adjusts to life without his best friend please contact us. Max is currently in the Shropshire area and will be rehomed with his 5 weeks free Agria Insurance and our Adoption Contract. About Max 2

What life with Max 2 looks like

Max 2 is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at GSP Rescue UK in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Max 2, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Max 2?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. GSP Rescue UK handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Max 2 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Max 2 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — GSP Rescue UK will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Max 2 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Max 2 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with GSP Rescue UK early rather than rehoming privately; they know Max 2 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
