Adopt Max 3

Komondor · Male · Adult · 6 years

AGE: 6 years (*26.5.2019) WEIGHT: 50 kg DISABILITY: degenerative myelopathy Max is a wonderful Komondor. Just let him gently nibble your hand... and it's over. You'll fall in love. Immediately. A dog of absolutely amazing temperament, who communicates beautifully with people. But fate has not given him an easy path. Max suffers from degenerative myelopathy - a disease that gradually weakens his body. We don't know how much time he has left... it could be months or years. But one thing we do know for sure - he deserves to live the remaining time loved as a family member. We are looking for lifelong care for him - you give him a home, love and daily care, we will cover and pay for veterinary costs. 💛 What is Max like? An incredibly affectionate and grateful dog, completely great in character - handles all types of manipulation well, suitable for small children, loves human contact and company, gently nibbles your hand or curls up between your legs and begs for pets, would happily snuggle forever 🏡 What home does he need? ideally a house with a garden, barrier-free access, safe environment (without dangerous water areas) 🚶‍♂️ Movement and care He handles hygiene, so far everything is manageable and he goes out, loves walks on a cart ❤️ When handling (e.g., into a cart), two people are needed 🐕 Other dogs Larger dogs may not be tolerated, tolerance needs to be tested with us, a female dog and smaller dogs could be manageable by Max. Max is not "just a dog". He is a soul that has gone through its own, and yet has not lost trust or love for people. We are looking for someone who can give him the most precious thing - the feeling that he belongs somewhere. And that he is loved. Until the end. If you feel that you could be his person, please fill out the questionnaire and we will get back to you. Any questions please contact . Non-binding visit is welcome.

About Max 3

What life with Max 3 looks like

Max 3 is a extra-large adult komondor dog waiting at Útulek Dogsy in Czech Republic.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇿Adopting from Czech Republic

Czech shelters (útulky) include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID. The adopter signs a written contract (smlouva) — the shelter may follow up to verify wellbeing.

Frequently asked

Adopting Max 3, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Max 3?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Útulek Dogsy handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Max 3 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Max 3 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Útulek Dogsy will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Max 3 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Max 3 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Útulek Dogsy early rather than rehoming privately; they know Max 3 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
