Mäx_6 Mäx_1 Mäx_3 Mäx_2 Mäx_4 10.08.2026 Unfortunately, Mäx has not had a very happy life. His previous owner suffered from a severe addiction and was often unable to give Mäx the care and attention he desperately needed. It is all the more wonderful that the handsome male dog has now arrived at Boxerhof and can finally start a new life full of love, security, and care. Mäx is currently still thin, but with good care, sufficient food, and plenty of attention, he will surely become a stately Boxer male soon. Through his previous "wild" life, Mäx has already experienced and learned a lot. He walks confidently through life and greets every person friendly and openly. He also shows himself calm and relaxed when meeting other dogs. Mäx walks nicely on a leash, does not pull, and is simply a great everyday companion. The basic commands are also well understood. All in all, Mäx is just a really great guy. Since Mäx always spent his previous life at the side of his previous owner, he finds it difficult to be alone at the moment. Therefore, this must be practiced step by step in his new home. It is important that Mäx gets enough time to build the necessary security and thus trust in his new people. We wish Mäx a quiet, loving home where he can finally arrive and relax. People who show him how beautiful a dog life can be and where he will never again lack love, care, and security. About Mäx

What life with Mäx looks like

Mäx is a puppy/kitten dog waiting at Boxer Nothilfe Deutschland in Hiddenhausen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mäx, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mäx?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Boxer Nothilfe Deutschland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mäx on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mäx if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Boxer Nothilfe Deutschland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mäx already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mäx isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Boxer Nothilfe Deutschland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mäx and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
