Max ID No.: 1047228 Breed: this breed Age: approx. 10/2017 Sex: male Shoulder height: approx. 65 cm Neutered: Yes Location: Marbella (Spain) Inquiry form Max – a characterful dog with heart and intelligence There are many dogs named Max, but this male dog carries his name with exceptional dignity. Max (*approx. 10/2017, approx. 65 cm) is a proud this breed who was simply abandoned by his original family. He now waits at our Spanish partner shelter Triple A in Marbella for that one special person to whom he can give his loyal heart. His distinctive ears make him an unmistakable presence, and we believe it’s precisely this trait that makes him so beautiful. Although Max is approximately 9 years old, you’d never guess his age—he behaves like a young dog, full of energy, eager to learn, and determined to please his human at all costs. He always tries his best to do everything right and shows a deeply people-oriented nature. One of his absolute favorite pastimes is skillfully catching treats mid-air—a little performance that always brings smiles. Max is a typical this breed seeking a deep bond with his primary caregiver. While he maintains respectful distance toward strangers, he truly blossoms around familiar people. Fundamentally, he’s a “one-person dog” looking for the right companion, and once he finds them, he offers unwavering loyalty. On-leash, he already walks very well in natural settings, though he still needs a confident hand to guide him in exciting or overwhelming situations. When it comes to other dogs, Max goes by personal chemistry. He’s generally compatible as long as there’s a good match between him and the other dog. He’s a strong personality who, in daily shelter life, shows that he values calm and composure. A home where he can be the sole canine prince would be ideal for him. We’re looking for experienced this breed owners without small children—people who enjoy providing mental stimulation and are ready to offer Max the security of his very own sofa. Anyone who opens their heart to him will gain a wonderful, faithful companion who’ll stand by their side through thick and thin. Max is neutered, vaccinated, and holds an EU pet passport. For travel arrangements, he has been tested for Mediterranean diseases and has been dewormed and treated for fleas. About Max

What life with Max looks like

Max is a senior german shepherd dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Max, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Max?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Max on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Max if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Max already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Max isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Max and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
