Max is looking for an active home, he is an energetic boy who loves to play and go for walks. Max, the 2 year old black Labrador Cross who radiates pure joy out of anyone he meets! He is looking for his perfect forever home. He is an affectionate, adventurous boy who loves spending time with his people and would be best suited to a family who enjoy training, outdoor activities, and providing plenty of mental enrichment. Max is an intelligent dog who enjoys learning and has so much potential in the right home, anyone would be lucky to have this big goofball as their best friend! Unfortunately, Max has experienced an unsettled few months and has found himself in several homes through no fault of his own. He is currently back in kennels, where he finds the busy, noisy environment difficult to cope with. However, once settled into a home, Max’s true personality shines through. He has previously enjoyed being off lead in secure park areas, happily playing with other dogs, although his recall is not yet reliable enough for open spaces. Initially, any off-lead exercise should be limited to secure enclosed areas while he builds a bond with his new family. After a walks and a play Max will happily join you on the sofa for a big snooze, he is the perfect sofa buddy. Max has made excellent progress with his loose lead walking, although he can occasionally become distracted by other dogs or interesting scents. Due to his size and strength, he weighs approximately 40kg, he will need handlers who are confident and able to continue his training consistently. Max could live with another friendly, playful dog following successful introductions and would also be happy as the only dog in the home. He has shown some frustration reactive behaviours when out and about, when he cannot greet other dogs but is working on this and progress is going well. He loves playing with toys – even if they sometimes spontaneously combust! He is comfortable being left for a few hours and could live with older teenagers who are confident around large dogs. The area where he requires the most ongoing support is during veterinary visits, as he finds handling at the vets stressful. We are continuing to build his confidence through positive training, and he will need to wear a muzzle for veterinary appointments at present. Max is a loving, loyal companion who simply needs the stability and commitment he has been missing. Please consider him to either adopt or foster.
