Chester

Labrador Retriever · Male · Young · 2 years

2 1/2 year old Fox Red, Chester is now looking for a new home. He has been in kennels whilst his family took a holiday. He is an affectionate boy once he gets to know you but can be a little nervous of strangers coming into the home and will bark at men until he feels relaxed around them. He lives at home with 2 children aged 5 & 8 and settles well around young people. He has a family dog that visits most days and he is fine with familiar dogs. He knows all the basic commands and will do anything for a treat! Chester enjoys cuddles on the sofa and is not destructive around the home. He enjoys going for walks and he is not reactive to other dogs although he loves to play if allowed. His owners do not let him off the lead as he does need some help with his recall. If he sees cats, he will chase them. Chester has lots of toys but he doesn’t really play with them although he does enjoy a ball in the garden. He travels well in the car. He can be quite anxious if people approach him whilst out walking and because of this he may be better suited to an environment that isnt built up and busy. He can live with another dog. If you are able to offer this lovely boy his forever home please email with some information about yourself, your experiences and the home that you have to offer him “Possible home being seen” Please only apply if you are in one of the areas we cover. If you would like to register your interest please email giving details of your experience and the home you have to offer. If you are shortlisted you will be contacted further.

About Chester

What life with Chester looks like

Chester is a young adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Labrador Lifeline Trust in Tadley.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chester, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chester?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Labrador Lifeline Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chester on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chester if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Labrador Lifeline Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chester already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chester isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Labrador Lifeline Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chester and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
