Carl

Whippet Β· Male Β· Puppy Β· 6 months

Carl is a gorgeous young Patterdale whippet cross at approximately 6 months old and available for adoption at Pawprints Dog Rescue in the Midlands Carl is a young patterdale cross who came into our care as a stray, found along side 2 other dogs. He thrives on the company of other dogs, and gains a lot of confidence from them as he is a shy boy. Carl would like to live with a confident dog (s) in his new home so they can show him that the world isn’t so scary after all. Because Carl is still young he is unable to be neutered so the resident dogs must be males or neutered females. Carl is slowly gaining confidence around people too, and is starting to enjoy some gentle fuss but as soon as he sees another dog he lights up! Carl would like a family wanting a young dog with lots of energy to want to train, play and commit to his energy levels. He would like to have a secure garden to play and use up his energy as he may need a little time to gain confidence before going on busy walks. He doesn’t seem to be used to home life so needs to be shown that the world isn’t so scary. Due to Carl still needing to build some confidence we would home him with teenagers 15 and over who can understand when a dog is nervous and if they need some space. We are already starting to see this brave little boys true personality slowly starting to shine through, and we know with the right home he will be a fun and affectionate dog.

About Carl

What life with Carl looks like

Carl is a puppy whippet dog waiting at Pawprints Dog Rescue in Stretton-on-Dunsmore.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window β€” house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Carl, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Carl?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pawprints Dog Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Carl on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Carl if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Pawprints Dog Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Carl already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Carl isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pawprints Dog Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Carl and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
