Adopt Max

Mixed Breed · Male

Hello, my name is Max. I am a small dog and was born around 2019. On November 15, 2023, I was brought in from an intervention. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I am a dog that can give the appearance of being untrained, quite frustrated to such an extent that I might even bite something or someone. However, the basis of my behavior actually comes from a great need to be with a person I already know. I also need stability, monotony, so I can predict every stage of the day. Peace! Such peace, other dogs do not work well for me. I would not be recommended as a dog for a home with children. My future caregiver will have to work on my behavior to some extent, or maintain the results of the work already done at the animal shelter. I am a clean dog, I do my business outside. I don't destroy anything. I love walks - I could walk forever, always forward, occasionally looking to see if my caregiver is following me. I like playing with a tug toy. I demand affection, I automatically go onto the lap of a person I am close to and give kisses. I don't like when I am left, in return I always leave me a little treat. However, sometimes this does not solve the problem. That is why I have some activity every day, such as a Kong with frozen content to retrieve, or a mat to lick, a chew toy for a longer time and many, many others. At the animal shelter I am very alert, I monitor every change, whether it is a person passing by or someone driving by. It is rare to see me sleeping, all this shows how much the animal shelter does not suit me. My place should be in a home... Do you agree with me? Therefore, don't give up on me, because dogs like me need even more warmth from a person.

Witajcie, mam na imię Max. Jestem małym psem i urodziłem się w okolicach 2019 roku. 15 listopada 2023 roku przywieziono mnie z interwencji. Dlatego codziennie mam jakieś zajęcie tj. kong z zamrożoną zawartością do wydobycia albo mata do wylizania, gryzak na dłuższą chwilę i wiele, wiele innych.

About Max

What life with Max looks like

Max is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Zabrze in Zabrze.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Max, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Max?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Zabrze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Max on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Max if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Zabrze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Max already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Max isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Zabrze early rather than rehoming privately; they know Max and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
