Maximilian

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Maximilian & Layla were already in the shelter once before, in 2024, when they had been found or removed from their home due to an issue which we did not have more information on, and they had to stay in the shelter, without being available for adoption. During that time, the shelter team took them to the groomer and they had to be shaved, as their furs were in such a bad shape. Unfortunately, we had to give them back to the owners, and then they had been often seen walked in a residential area, and we thought they were safe and more or less taken care of. Until recently, when they arrived without any notification, to the shelter with Sanidad, because their owner had called the authorities to come pick up their dogs, because.... they are going on holidays. We were so very deeply disgusted, more than anything because Layla & Maximilian had been spending their lives in a home, with children, that never valued them, and also because there is no law that prohibits these people taking more animals once they are back from holidays. Now onto their new lives - Layla has already been reserved to her own forever home, and Maximilian is now also looking for a forever home! Maximilian is quite independant, but at the same time, he likes your attention and scratches, when he likes them! He is quite like a cat - mind his own business, and accepts you attention exactly when he is in the mood for it, like a real Chow-Chow. He could join a home with a friendly, social female dog or he could most likely very well be a single dog of a home, where he can be a spoiled prince. Maximilian walks very nicely on the leash, is used to life in a town environment with some traffic, crowds, children, and walks around confidently and without insecurities. Maximilian is ready for his own home whether in Spain or in the Nordic countries - he really would not mind a cooler climate though, as this fur is not made for the temperatures of Spain. His shoulder height is approximately 50-52cm. He has been tested for Mediterranean diseases and is healthy based on his blood test.

About Maximilian

What life with Maximilian looks like

Maximilian is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Triple A Marbella in Marbella.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maximilian, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maximilian?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Triple A Marbella handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maximilian on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maximilian if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Triple A Marbella will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maximilian already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maximilian isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Triple A Marbella early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maximilian and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
