Maximo (CBS)

Mixed Breed · Male

PS S, born: 01/25, male dog. At Finca since 10/25. A few weeks ago, Sarah and Sven stumbled upon four wild and extremely shy young puppies in a nearby Barroco while on their Finca. The small ones apparently lived in caves under a large stone pile. The two quickly set up water and food spots and continued to visit them daily, filling them up but also spending as much time as possible there. The puppies should get used to them and gain trust. The smallest, already very worn-out Miyu, became very friendly very quickly and was brought to the Finca as the first one in safety. In the following weeks, as soon as the other siblings heard Sarah and Sven, they came running frantically, but it took a long time for their trust to solidify enough for them to allow themselves to go to the Finca. But with much patience, Sarah and Sven managed to bring the small male dogs, now named Maximio, and the small female, now named Manita, to the Finca without stress and fear. Manita and Maximio now occupy a large enclosure in their new home, a bit apart to settle in quietly. The first few days were very tiring for them, and they slept a lot. It seemed like a big change for the siblings, no longer having to hunt for food and fight daily for survival. They now have a roof over their heads and a cozy warm blanket to sleep in. Although they no longer lived in freedom, they took their new happiness well and quickly adapted to their new surroundings. The bond with their new humans is becoming more and more trusting and closer. They are wild with joy when Sarah and Sven come, enjoying their petting sessions and demanding to play. Maximio loves to lie on his back and have his belly rubbed. After some time, it became clear that the two furred children now also play with each other. Probably they didn’t do this in the wild, as they had other priorities, fighting for survival. Now they play daily and have even come to like toys. They whirl and frolic wildly and exuberantly, of course, young puppies sometimes get a bit wild and rambunctious. Maximio is a little more reserved than his sister. New situations are still a bit eerie for him, but he lets everything happen and participates. He often runs after his sister, especially when she discovers something. He also watches and barks when there’s something to bark about, but his interest quickly wanes. He has already had his first visit to the vet and handled it very well. All examinations were done calmly, even the blood draw was tolerated without resistance. The vet who knew the boy’s history was completely charmed, he let her pet him. The car ride went smoothly in the transport box. Still, everything new is a bit eerie and needs to be practiced. This includes wearing a harness and walking on a leash. These are, however, small hurdles that can be mastered with much love and patience and will become routine. Now, the little puppy boy is looking for his own family with a soft, cozy basket, showing him a lot of the world and giving him security and love. If you want to give the little boy exactly this, we look forward to hearing from you.

About Maximo (CBS)

What life with Maximo (CBS) looks like

Maximo (CBS) is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Fuerteventura in Dransfeld.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maximo (CBS), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maximo (CBS)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Fuerteventura handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maximo (CBS) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maximo (CBS) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Fuerteventura will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maximo (CBS) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maximo (CBS) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Fuerteventura early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maximo (CBS) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
