Mazurek

Mixed Breed · Male

Mazurek was once a free-roaming cat. From the street, he came under the care of people who had good intentions and wanted to help cats. However, the number of cats kept increasing, and money and space were disappearing even faster. Mazurek lived in dirt and had to fight for food, and since he has a very gentle character, other cats pushed him aside. Then the small cat came to us along with other cats that he lived with, but he was the most emaciated of them all. The beginning was not easy, he ate very greedily and was afraid of everything. However, he made significant progress within a few months and eventually found a foster home. Unfortunately, due to stress, he sometimes urinated in the bed and therefore returned to us fairly quickly. Urinating was a behavioral issue, Mazurek is completely healthy. Probably he was introduced too quickly and inappropriately to the resident cat. Therefore, he needs to go to a patient caregiver who will give him time and will be able to read his signals. Mazurek likes other cats, but he already knows the Ekostraż ones. If he were to go to a home with other animals, appropriate socialization would be necessary to minimize the risk of urinating. FIV / FELV tests are negative, neutered, vaccinated and dewormed. Mazurek is currently in a foster home and is looking for a permanent one.

PL·Show original

Mazurek był kiedyś kotem wolno żyjącym. Z ulicy trafił pod opiekę osób, które miały dobre zamiary, chciały pomagać kotom. Jednak kotów wciąż przybywało, a pieniędzy i miejsca jeszcze szybciej ubywało. Zrobił jednak spore postępy w ciągu kilku miesięcy i w końcu trafił do domu tymczasowego. Niestety przez stres zdarzało mu się sikać w łóżku i dlatego dość szybko trafił z powrotem do nas. Posikiwanie było kwestią behawioralną, Mazurek jest w pełni zdrowy. Prawdopodobnie zbyt szybko i nieodpowiednio został zapoznany z kotem rezydentem. Dlatego musi trafić do cierpliwego opiekuna, który da mu czas i będzie potrafił odczytywać jego sygnały. Mazurek lubi inne koty, natomiast te Ekostrażowe już dobrze zna, gdyby trafił do domu, w którym są inne zwierzaki, należałoby przeprowadzić odpowiednią socjalizację, by zminimalizować ryzyko posikiwania. Testy FIV / FELV ujemne, wykastrowany, zaszczepiony i odrobaczony. Mazurek przebywa w domu tymczasowym i szuka stałego.

About Mazurek

What life with Mazurek looks like

Mazurek is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Fundacja EkoStraż in Wrocław.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mazurek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mazurek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja EkoStraż handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mazurek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mazurek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja EkoStraż will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mazurek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mazurek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja EkoStraż early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mazurek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
