Menta

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Menta, the mixed-breed male, came to our shelter in January 2023. Due to changes in his family's circumstances, they were no longer able to keep him, so they were looking for an inclusive organization. We receive many such requests, but it is rare for a dog to arrive with a chip that is on file, a valid vaccination record, and neutered status. Menta's owner brought him to us, so he did everything he could in this sad situation. Our young guard dog is one of our favorite volunteers. He waits for Saturday like a clever four-legged friend, since he knows he will get to go for a walk, receive some attention, enjoy a few treats, and get plenty of petting. For a short while, he can feel like a family dog.

About Menta

What life with Menta looks like

Menta is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vackoló Állatmenhely Veszprém in Vackolo.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Menta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Menta?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vackoló Állatmenhely Veszprém handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Menta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Menta if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vackoló Állatmenhely Veszprém will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Menta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Menta isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vackoló Állatmenhely Veszprém early rather than rehoming privately; they know Menta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
