Mery

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Description Our animal welfare workers report: our cute Mery was another puppy from an unwanted litter. Due to the tip-off from two loving animal people, Mery and her brother Pimpin were found in the wilderness by our engaged, local animal shelters and were picked up, coming to the animal shelter. Brother Pimpin was already happily rehomed. The completely irresponsible owner of the mother dog breeds uncontrollably and then simply abandons individual puppies ruthlessly in the wilderness. It is unfortunately completely irrelevant to the owner where the abandoned puppies land or if they even survive. Mery is unfortunately already her entire puppyhood in the animal shelter, but she has developed wonderfully according to the circumstances here. It is really time for the beige mixed-breed female dog to move into her own family where she can develop and where she experiences all the attention, care, and love of her forever people. Mery is a very social and lovable female dog. She loves to play all day and also enjoys eating a lot. She shows herself to be compatible with other dogs and friendly towards people in the animal shelter. The wonderful-nosed furball loves to be scratched and stretches her paws contentedly. Mery then had an operative procedure in winter 2023, a femur head resection. Following that, Mery had to build up muscle mass again, which went very well! A normal dog life, with regular walks, but without targeted dog sports, stands nothing in the way. Of course, an additional, regular physiotherapy would be desirable for the female dog who has lived here since puppyhood with a broken bone. In the new home, Mery needs a family that still shows her everything, such as environmental sounds or street noise, which she has not yet experienced. A house with a garden would be ideal for the cuddly, kind female dog. Fellow animals may live in the new home, but this is not a requirement. Who would like to give this magical and pleasant female dog a home? Mery is eagerly waiting with her packed suitcase for the magic bus to happiness. About Mery

What life with Mery looks like

Mery is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mery, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mery?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mery on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mery if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mery already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mery isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mery and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
