Adopt Mia

Female · Puppy

Mia was surrendered with male dog Malcolm at a kill shelter, likely due to Mia's pregnancy. Our Hungarian partner shelter managed to rescue the pair at the last minute. Now she is safe, neutered, and ready for a new chapter. The sweet mouse is a loving, friendly, and very playful female dog with great energy. Mia is absolutely uncomplicated to handle. She may be a bit shy around strangers at first and will bark if she feels scared, but with a few cuddles and kind words, she warms up quickly, climbs onto the lap, and lets her belly be rubbed. She gets along very well with other dogs and loves to play with them. One of her ancestors was certainly a French Bulldog. We don't know which other breeds have played a role with her. She seems incompatible with cats. Mia learns incredibly fast and already runs well on a leash! With a little attention, she understands quickly that she can completely trust her human. For Mia, we wish for a loving family, preferably one with already understanding older children. A playful dog already in place is welcome but not necessary. Since Mia came from an international animal welfare organization, she needs time, patience, and a warm welcome in her new home. New impressions, routines, and bonds must grow in peace. Those who are ready to walk this path with her will be rewarded with a very special connection! The sweet Mia is, of course, neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and has been examined by a veterinarian. She also has an EU pet passport. The handover could take place on June 27, 2026, in Berlin, or alternatively in the Stuttgart area, should someone fall in love with her and give her a – forever home –! Mia Breed: female dog Age: 09.09.2024 Shoulder height: ca. 30 cm

About Mia

What life with Mia looks like

Mia is a puppy/kitten dog waiting at animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen in Ketzin.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
