Adopt MICKEY

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Breed: HSH-mixed breed? Project: Larissa/Greece Gender: male Age: born Feb 2025 Size: likely to become medium to large in size Weight: approx. 9 kg (as of Jun 2025) Other: friendly with people and other dogs, still very playful Current location: Animal shelter in Larissa/Greece MICKEY's Story MICKEY and his sister MINI were found together on a landfill site in Greece – weak, hungry, and left to fend for themselves. Their start in life was far from fair. Under the care of animal welfare workers, they were immediately taken to the vet – where the shocking diagnosis was given: both puppies suffered from Parvovirus, a serious and often fatal viral infection. But MICKEY and MINI wanted to live. With the help of loving care and intensive medical support, they bravely fought through – and won. Today, they are both healthy and full of joy. MICKEY is lively and ready to start a happy future. He is a friendly and people-oriented young dog who also gets along well with other dogs. He loves to play, explore, and run around. Human company and any form of affection he enjoys to the fullest. Of course, we don't know which breeds are involved exactly. But based on his original background, it is assumed that perhaps the Greek German Shepherd might have been involved at some point. Therefore, MICKEY is only rehomed into experienced hands. This is a current and temporary assessment of MICKEY. How he will behave in the future, especially after moving into a new home, we cannot predict. Every animal, like us humans, will change and continue to develop. But with the right, patient, and loving guidance, MICKEY will surely become a good companion. MICKEY is microchipped, vaccinated, treated for endo- and ectoparasites, and tested negative for so-called Mediterranean diseases, but he is still too young for castration. MICKEY is now searching for a loving home where he can arrive – with people who will show him how wonderful life can be with patience, love, and time. A home where he can simply be a dog. Who gives MICKEY a second chance at a happy life?

Rasse: HSH-Mischling? Projekt: Larissa/Griechenland Geschlecht: männlich Alter: geb.

About MICKEY

What life with MICKEY looks like

MICKEY is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. in Bamberg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting MICKEY, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about MICKEY?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw MICKEY on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt MICKEY if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is MICKEY already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if MICKEY isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know MICKEY and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
